The Plan

View The Road Trip on liz_seward's travel map.

In three days I will be on a aeroplane heading to Washington DC. Three adventurous weeks later my sister and I should be in Seattle waiting for our plane home, as long we don't get stuck in the snow.

Last year my sister, Rachel, decided that 'one day' had arrived and that it was time to take that road trip across the States that we first planned at age 8 & 12.

We booked our flights in January, followed by the car (a full-size 2-door with cruise control) and one night's accommodation in Washington DC. We have a guide book, a fold out map, an atlas of the entire country, some money and a vague plan.

So far, that plan is:
Arrive in Washington DC
Head to Nashville
Drive to Mount Rushmore
Don't be late for our flight from Seattle

I love the fact that we don't know what we will see, or where we will go. We don't have to worry about getting lost, in fact that is the whole idea.

We hope to find some interesting sites along the way and come home with a camera full of photographs, one or two (maybe three) suitcases full of shopping and a blog full of stories.

All I have to do now is start packing!
